In loving memory of legendary Hollywood artist and animator Pete Alvarado(Peter J. Alvarado, Jr. 2/22/1920 - 12/27/2003). Beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, father-in-law and friend.
- Born in Raton, NM and grew-up in Glendale, CA.
- Attended Holy Family School, Hoover High School and Chouinard Art Institute.
- Join the Marines and served his country proudly in WWII, though he personally believed that"war was dumb"
- Was painfully shy, but loved talking to anyone that was willing(or not so willing)to listen
- Loved his family and valued his friends.
- Had a deep faith and trust in "the Man upstairs"
- Worked in the film and publishing industries for over 60 years (see links below) receiving numerous awards including two (yes two!) Academy Awards in 1949 for Best Cartoon and Best Documentary while part of the Warner Brothers cartoon unit known as "Termite Terrace." Other awards included the Warner Brothers' 24 Carrot Gold Award and the Disney Hispanic Artist Award. He was honored for his lifetime achievement in animation by ASIFA with the Winsor McCay Award. His fellow artists recognized him with the Screen Cartoonist Guild Golden Award for 50 years of outstanding contributions to the craft.
